Paediatric Hearing Assesment

Good hearing is critical to a child’s speech and language development and will affect the child’s developmental and social life. At Hearing Partners, we have an integrated assessment system to detect any causes and symptoms of hearing and speech impairment. We will then recommend the child to seek the right treatments as early as possible.

Behavioural Assessment Methods

Behavioural assessments require the participation of the child and sometimes the parent. The types of behavioural assessment various for differ age group:

0-36 months: BOA (Behavioural Objective Assessment), VRA (Visual Response Audiometry)

3-6 years: Play audiometry, Performance testing

6 years and above: PTA (Pure Tone Audiometry)

Objective Assessment Methods

We offer:

  • ABR/ASSR (Auditory Brainstem Response/ Auditory Steady-State Response)
  • Tympanometry
  • OAE (Oto-Acoustic Emissions)
  • Orphanage home visits (upon request)

Paediatric Hearing Loss

Most common cause of hearing loss in children is otitis media with effusion or infection in the middle ear. You can look out for these symptoms in your children.

  • Crying
  • Tugging at the ear due to pain
  • Fever
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Fluid leaking out of ear
  • Misinterpreting or not hearing what you say
