FAQs About Audiologists
What is the difference between an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor and an audiologist?
ENT doctors and audiologists both have expertise in diagnosing ear-related conditions. However, while ENT doctors delve into more complex medical issues, audiologists specialise in diagnosing hearing loss and improving individuals’ quality of life through the use of hearing aids.
Moreover, ENT doctors diagnose nose and throat-related conditions aside from ear-related issues.
When should I see an audiologist?
Audiologists specialise in diagnosing issues related to hearing and balance and recommending personalised solutions to assist individuals in managing their specific conditions.
You are recommended to see an audiologist if you notice any of the following:
- Habitually turning up the volume of the TV
- Complaints from family or friends about the TV being too loud
- Tinnitus or ringing in your ears
- People leaning closer to speak to you
Can audiologists fix tinnitus?
Our audiologists can help you manage your tinnitus. Learn more about tinnitus management here or book an appointment with us today.
Do audiologists remove ear wax or do ear cleaning?
No, our audiologists do not provide ear wax removal or ear cleaning services. We recommend visiting an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor for such procedures instead.
